The TACIR Study, currently underway, will provide the State Education Committee and other governing bodies with important information about the effects of multiple school districts in one county.
Tennessee Senate Joint Resolution 593 passes. SJR593 directs the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (TACIR) to study the overall effects on public education relative to having multiple school districts operating in the same county. TACIR will examine the following in their course of research:
Study how existing laws affect the sharing of local revenue used for operational expenses in counties with multiple school systems.
Study how existing laws affect the sharing of local bond revenue used to fund capital projects in counties with multiple school systems.
Study the process for valuing and transferring properties between school systems located in the same county.
Identify other issues related to creating and operating multiple school systems in the same county, including those related so staff and other school system personnel.
